Este libro cuestiona los significados de “independencia” para los documentales realizados en el contexto posterior a 1990, un período de disrupción y creatividad sin igual en este campo. Basada en una selección razonada de contribuciones, es la primera colección de estudios de casos en profundidad que abarcan formatos, medios, temas, propósitos y divisiones nacionales. Escribiendo desde una amplia gama de perspectivas académicas, los colaboradores arrojan nueva luz sobre cuestiones históricas, teóricas y empíricas relacionadas con el documental independiente, con el fin de comprender mejor las transformaciones radicales de la forma en los últimos veinticinco años. En comparación con los estudios existentes, este volumen se centra en obras y profesionales que existen en los márgenes de los medios tradicionales, la industria cinematográfica dominante y los sistemas económicos y sociopolíticos predominantes; pero contribuye enormemente a cambiar nuestra percepción de los documentales. Y al hacerlo, aborda una brecha importante en la comprensión global de las prácticas y estilos documentales. |
